The Creative Learning Department will offer a full range of workshops for young people this summer.
The workshops, held in the Lyric Theatre, will be led by our team of highly experienced facilitators and the theme for the whole programme will be inspired by the Olympic Games.
The courses will feature a variety of fun, drama-related activities: acting, movement and voice, and for younger children sessions on making props and costumes. The emphasis will be on learning theatre skills and participating in workshop activities. There will be an opportunity for parents and friends to view some of the work-in-progress during the final session at 11.00am on Saturday morning.
Participants should be available for all six days, Monday to Saturday, and must be of the appropriate age for the course.

SUMMER DRAMA FOR 17-19 YEAR OLDS
Oedipus The King
By Sophocles
Translated by Christopher Stace
A unique and exciting opportunity for young people, aged 17-19, to work with our Creative and Technical teams, in a professional theatre environment, simulating the experience of a professional actor.
Monday 23rd July - Saturday 11th August
Fee: £200 for 3 weeks
The Play A country riddled with disease and famine. The people, in desperation, turn to their King for help. In taking action to solve the problem, he uncovers a web of murder, conspiracy and a scandal which rocks the Royal House to its core.
Chosen as part of our Olympic themed programme of summer events, this impressively accessible translation of Sophocles' classic Greek tragedy is given a modern interpretation through live theatre and film.
Application Process
Click here to download the application form then please return it to: Pauline McKay, Lyric Theatre, 55 Ridgeway Street, Belfast, BT9 5FB or email to creativeassistant@lyrictheatre.co.uk
Deadline: Friday 18th May 2012.
Please note the course is limited to 20 actors.
Auditions We will invite successful applicants to a workshop audition on Sunday 27th May at the Lyric. You may then be invited back to audition for one of the major roles. We aim to complete casting by the end of May.
Structure of the Project In keeping with our aim to simulate a professional theatre experience, not all of the cast will be required all of the time - this is reflected in the proportionately lower fee of £200. All actors must be available for all 3 weeks.
