Audition now for Drama Studio

The Lyric Theatre Drama Studio for 2010 to 2011 kicks off in September. The Drama Studio aims to develop young actors aged 18 to 25 who are serious about becoming professional actors.

Auditions for this year's programme will be held on Saturday 21 August. Running from September 2010 right through to April 2011, candidates must be available and willing to participate in the full programme – a series of Saturday workshops leads to two short intensive bursts of rehearsal.  So far there has been a lot of interest, but Drama Studio director Anna Newell, Artistic Director of The Centre for Excellence in the Creative and Performing Arts at QUB, has made a call for male actors to apply for audition.

Anna said: “There has been a great response so far to our initial call for drama studio participants, especially from females. So guys, if you think you have got what it takes to become the next Liam Neeson, then get yourself down to the auditions for the drama studio. Email dramastudio@lyrictheatre.co.uk to find out more.”

There are still places available on the Michael Chekhov Technique and Sight Reading Workshops which both begin in September. These workshops give an insight into what is to come when the new theatre opens in spring 2011 and forms part of the Lyric’s long term commitment to providing enhanced learning in the creative industries.

There are also a limited number of places on the Lyric’s Summer Programme available for 14 to 17 year old groups over a one or two week period from 9 August and for a one week period from 16 August.
