Posted on 31 December 2010The Lyric Theatre in Belfast today expressed delight that its Chairman, Mark Carruthers, has been appointed an OBE in the Queen's New Year Honours List for his services to drama in Northern Ireland.
Posted on 08 December 2010Northern Ireland's flagship Lyric Theatre today announced a major funding boost as details of a five year partnership with Northern Bank were revealed at an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to the new theatre. Building work is nearing completion and the Lyric will reopen its doors on Sunday 1 May 2011 with a gala performance on the newly named Northern Bank Stage.

With the core building structure complete, the theatre has now cemented its place within a new Belfast skyline in its state-of-the-art home on Ridgeway Street.
Posted on 03 June 2010The Lyric Theatre has to raise £150,000 within the next four weeks in order to secure a £500,000 challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation in Michigan, USA. It will be a nail-biting finish to a long-running capital campaign, launched in 2003, to raise the funds to build a new state-of-the-art producing theatre for the people of Belfast and Northern Ireland. The Lyric is appealing for help from the public and the business community to help get the project over the line by the challenge deadline of 30 June.

Posted on 24 May 2010Closing this Saturday 29 May, Molière's classic costume comedy, The Miser, in partnership with the Ulster Bank, is the Lyric's final production in Elmwood Hall before re-opening the new theatre at Ridgeway Street, Belfast next spring. The Lyric then embarks with The Miser on its largest tour of the island of Ireland from 31 May to 9 July.
