If you’re an avid AD follower, you will know we have turned our hand to a few theatre projects in our time - who are we kiddin’, it’s what we do best!

Having worked with a number of amazing theatres and arts venues over the years, we are thrilled to say we are now working with none other than the amazing Lyric Theatre in Belfast - our first Northern Irish client - go us!

As one of only two full-time producing theatres in Ireland, the Lyric aims to place local issues and local people at the heart of the theatre whilst making each performance as relevant to both local audiences and visitors to the city. Having recently been awarded four Irish Times Awards and with famous names such as Liam Neeson as the patron of the theatre; it is a testament to the quality of the theatre’s performances.

Overlooking Belfast’s River Lagan, the amazing building consists of two auditoria, spacious lobbies and bars and with an exciting artistic programme, the Lyric Theatre is much more than an arts venue, it’s a thriving social hub and a real attraction for visitors to Belfast. We are delighted to be working with them on this exciting new project!

With a very corporate feel to the existing website which doesn’t fully express the theatre, the Lyric are looking for a professional, modern website which positively reflects their fresh image and branding. Website homepages are effectively online shop windows and with very little representation of both the performances and the iconic building itself, more imagery will not only sell performance tickets, but the ‘theatre experience’ as a whole.

Having worked closely with Spektrix over the last few months we are delighted to announce this is the first website we will be launching with the guys - even more excited it is with the Lyric Theatre.

Despite ticket sales being of importance, the Lyric also want the website to encourage their audience to interact online and reflect every part of the theatre including the creative learning department, summer schools and training programmes as well as the theatre performances. As such, social media is a very important part of the Theatre’s digital strategy and with very little promotion of social media on the homepage; we aim to improve upon this during redevelopment. With over a billion global users on Facebook alone and with more than 50% of users logging in every day, it is necessary to be present on the key social channels and this will be considered during the design and development stages to encourage social engagement.

Having gone across to Belfast for the pitch we are excited to begin this fantastic new partnership with the Lyric Theatre. Beginning with our collaborative approach, the Lyric will become immersed in our famous on-site client workshops, identifying business objectives, user personas and users goals - everything we will ever need to know about the typical user to allow a clear architectural structure to be put in place.

Then on to where the magic happens - we will leave the Lyric team in the capable hands of our creative team or design magicians as they also like to be known where initial designs will be transformed into a masterpiece adhering to mobile best practice - got to keep Google's algorithms happy.

With extensive experience and track record creating high quality designs for venues in the arts as well as our technical expertise and innovative use of technology, we are super excited to get started on this project and are excited to build a partnership with this amazing venue.

Ryan Crown, Marketing Officer at the Lyric Theatre said: “We are thrilled to be embarking on this new project with AD. Their creativity and strategy for the redesign were everything we were looking for and their corporate values tied in closely with ours so of course we felt they were the best fit. We’re looking forward to getting to know more of the AD team and beginning a long-term partnership.”

Keep your eyes peeled for more updated on this project and say hey to the guys over on Twitter - it’s where the chat is at…
