ASSOCIATE ARTISTS

Our programme of Associate Artists will nurture a new wave of plays, playwrights and creative artists and raise the profile of indigenous artists and their work on local, national and international stages. In line with its artistic policy, the Lyric will use this opportunity to encourage innovation and experimentation.

PLAYWRIGHT-IN-RESIDENCE

A key associate artist will be the Lyric’s Playwright-in-Residence. New writing talent is central to the Lyric’s artistic policy, and this annual residency is an integral part of a wider plan to nurture and support the development of new plays and playwrights. The chosen writer will have a unique opportunity to work in a busy theatre environment at a formative stage in his or her career development, as well as working on a new commission for the theatre.

COMMISSIONS

In addition to the two new adaptations announced in the opening season, the Lyric currently has five commissions in development with local writers. New writing will be the lifeblood of our theatre and we are fortunate to have a wealth of hugely talented writers in Northern Ireland.
